Father and Sons camp out

2 weeks ago Jared took the boys on the father & sons outing. They had a great time playing in the stream, catching bugs and enjoying the outdoors. They came home with 2 new friends...wormy & crabby. Zachary held wormy the whole way home and became quite attached. (wormy was the furriest caterpillar I have ever seen...I should of taken pictures) Days later wormy died and we let crabby go in the waterfall pond in our neighborhood.
While at the camp out Jared took the boys on a little hike with a few other families. On the way back to the camp site Dallin was begging Jared to go ahead with some of his friends. As they turned a corner and Jared could see the camp he finally gave in and let Dallin go. Getting back to the camp site Jared decided to track down Dallin to make sure he had arrived safely. He went around and couldn't find him anywhere. No one had seen him...not even his friends. Jared started to get nervous and realized that dark was approaching and he needed to act fast. He decided to get in his car so he could cover more ground. As he was pulling out a friend of ours asked Jared if he was looking for his boy. Jared said that he was and Larry told him as he was driving into camp he saw Dallin walking along the road about 1-2 miles up the road. Jared & Larry jumped in the car and drove at full speed to try to catch up to him. As they turned several corners they saw Dallin walking towards them. Dallin got in the car with tears in his eyes. Jared wasn't mad but asked him why he left the camp. Dallin said he got lost and couldn't find his way. He said, "Dad, I was way up this road and I said some prayers and the Holy Ghost told me to turn around and walk in this direction." Jared was touched by this and was so grateful that Dallin was safe.
Jared called me the next morning to tell me what had happened. I of course cried, and was soooo glad he was ok.

What a fun experience for your boys! I started tearing up at the story of poor Dallin getting lost. What a positive ending that you'll always remember. I am sure it will be told in many talks and testimonies to come.

I can't believe that he got lost, but how neat that he knew to pray and get help. I love that. You can tell he has been taught right. It will be fun to see you guys soon.

You must be doing a GREAT job as parents; to teach Dallin that when he needs help he can pray!! What a terrible but spiritual growing experience!!

I just got all teary eyed too. What a wonderful blessing it is to have the Holy Ghost and know that we are never alone!
