Poor Ellie!

Ellie had her Pre-K program last night.  She has been talking about this night for over a week. Worrying what she should wear, and telling me she's never been on stage before.  I never thought of it...but this was really was one of her first experiences.  I knew she was kind of nervous but it was taken to a whole new level last night.  She didn't want to even go on stage. So...I walked with her as she clutched my hand with the entire class around the cafeteria for a short parade until they all made it on stage.  I thought once she got on stage she would be fine. I stood with her for a couple of minutes and of course all the parents were taking pictures and there I was standing next to the whole class (very awkward)!!! Finally I slowly snuck away to go to my seat.  Ellie was ok at first, with the exception of not wearing the hat and not singing. Then, slowing it got worse and tears started to come.  I felt so bad for her.  All the parents started giving me a sympathy stare.  I walked up to the front thinking if I was closer to her she would be more comfortable.  Dallin even tried to stand by her and do the actions with her and that made it even worse.  About 2 songs into it she walked off stage and watched the rest of the program with us.  The funny thing was she starting singing quietly all the words and doing some of the actions from her chair.

I'm sorry that we couldn't come to her performance. Dad still isn't feeling well. It's funny how some children are natural performers (like Dallin) and others are a little shy and self-conscious. I bet in a year or so, she'll do just fine in performances! She's such a sweetheart!

Poor baby. I hate that!!! It breaks your heart. I was a shy girl, but my kids.....are not. I don't have to worry about them in those types of situations, but I remember how scared I always was. I can empathize with poor little Ellie.
