updating and redoing

I hung new silk drapes in my dining/living room this past week.  The room feels lighter and maybe a little softer from the old ones that were heavy and dark.  I really like them but I need to figure out how to iron them.

do I...
1. rent or buy a steamer
2. take them to the dry cleaners
3. try to iron them myself
Any suggestions?I also gave my shelf above our TV a cleaner/fresher look.  It had christmas berries from 3 years ago that I never took down, thinking it was cute.  Once I took them down I wished I had after christmas years ago.  I think I just get use to things and don't realize how dumb they look.  Well this isn't anything great but it feels better.
Above our fireplace I changed our way-outdated family picture to a picture of the kids on the beach...nothing great, but at least updated.  Once the new baby is old enough to hold up her head I'll replace it with a picture of the whole family.  But for now this will do.

I've had lots of fun rearranging the only problem is once i do one room I want to do something new in every room.  Not a good thing at 8 months pregnant.  I'll just call it nesting. :)

Jill, if I were you, I'd iron them yourself. Do it on the wrong side of the fabric and make sure the temperature isn't too hot. I bet it won't take you as long as you think. YOu might need to use a pressing cloth so that you won't burn them if they are very heat sensitive. Love, Mom

Jill, do what mom says. She is always right. If it were me, I wouldn't have know how to put them up in the first place. By the way....your updates look awesome!!!! How fun! You are so good at decorating! Yea...I'm JEALOUS!!!

Jill, I love the curtains, I even like them better than the velvet ones you were wanting to do! Good job! In my vast experience I would use a pressing cloth for sure. I've burnt too much fabric with the iron.
